1940,s DANCE at the Caythorpe Village Hall, Caythorpe, Nr Grantham (On Lincoln Road) on Saturday 11th September 2010 from 8.00 till Midnight, dancing to forties classic songs and swing music with DJ Major Swing. This is a part of the village’s annual commemoration of the landing of allied troops at Arnhem in Operation Market Garden, an event close to the heart of Caythorpe and surrounding villages as many troops were billeted here prior to the assault, taking off from local air fields. Past and present members of 216 parachute regiment will be attending along with some of the veterans who took part in the landings. The dance aims to raise money for Arnhem vets and for the commemorative event next year. Come dance the night away to some great vintage music in the village hall where troops were billeted and which served as a NAAFI, visit the Arnhem room to look at photos and memorabilia.
